Dear all, first of all, apologies for any cross-posting! We are trying to recruit some more non-trans men who have sex with trans-masculine people for two online focus group for a NIH-funded project at the University of Minnesota. You can find out more at our website: www.allgenderhealth.org
If you could pass this request on to any of your partners/friends/etc I would be most grateful! Please note that they need to be over 18 years old and live in the USA. Thanks. The focus groups we have some more spots for are on: Sunday 11th of January 2009, at 3pm ET, 2pm CT, 1pm MT, and 12pm PT Tuesday 13th of January 2009, at 8.30pm ET, 7.30pm CT, 6.30pm MT, and 5.30pm PT
Interested parties can fill in the brief screening questionnaire online at our website. If you have taken part in the previous phase of the project (when we were carrying out focus groups with trans people), you will have received a referral code. Please remember that, if that's the case, you can refer up to two people! Thanks for your help and attention.
Alex
p.s. personal update to follow sometime in the next couple of weeks! Happy 2009 to everyone and *hugs* to distant friends.

Some cheerful news that make me feel really welcome back to 'my' adopted country...
Thanks to julietk for pointing out this insanity.
And yes, for the record, I volunteer, despite working, having a chronic condition, mothering a young child but this makes me feel like NOT doing it!

I'll try to be at this but work might hinder my plans. Still, hopefully some of us might make it to this lecture and, if I am not there, report back :-)

Actually it kind of already has since Hanukkah started last week in fact. Still, for me it starts today :-) I hope you are wrapped up warm on this longest night as it is also very cold! Anyway, I just wanted to say Merry Solstice. May the return of the sun bring you warmth, joy and plenty of whatever you may wish for! Love & bright blessings xxx

From the British Reclaiming email list:
"Here is some interesting news! Apparently Newsweek and the Washington Post have started a new website devoted to religion, and asked Starhawk to be a panelist. She’ll be responding to questions they pose and participating in interfaith dialogue. The more of you that click on her page, the more they’ll know there’s interest out there in the Goddess.
Also, in the Spring, Starhawk will be offering two on-line classes through MaybeLogic Academy. If you’ve been wanting to take a course or workshop, but haven’t been able to catch her, now is your chance."

You may like to join this on the 25th of November. Again, I am sure many of you know about it already and many of us have several buy nothing days but, still, mass actions and all that. Hope everyone is having a cheerful start to the week.

I know probably people have seen this already but just in case...
4th November 2006 - Starting at Sunset - 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm
You are invited to take part in the largest demonstration of People Power that London has ever seen on Saturday 4th November 2006, by turning off all your lights, and switching off all your non-essential electrical equipment at Sunset.
The principal cause of Global Warming is the rising Carbon Dioxide emissions into the atmosphere from the burning of Fossil Fuels, for electricity generation, transport, manufacturing, industry, space heating and air conditioning.
REMEMBER, REMEMBER, THE FOURTH OF NOVEMBER !
For one day in November, we are asking everyone who receives this message to think about what they can turn off, switch off and unplug, to show support.
We want the power demand in the United Kingdom to reduce so much that the newspapers are obliged to report it. We want the lights to go out in London, so that on the evening of 4th November 2006, the dimming effect will be visible from space.
CELEBRATE THE NIGHT OF POWER : TURN OFF ! SWITCH OFF ! UNPLUG !
If you are a security guard for an office block in London, please ask your employers when you should be turning the lights out. If you are a church warden, please check with your church council to see if they agree to switching off the floodlights. If you are working for your local Council, ask if you can help them implement an energy reduction plan to turn off lights, computers and fans at the weekend. If you are at home, switch off your set-top boxes, pull all the chargers out of the wall sockets, turn off lights in any room you are not using, switch off any machine with a digital clock in it, unplug the hi-fi and the TV and the games console, de-frost your freezer, switch off your fridge for a couple of hours. Turn the central heating thermostat down to 16 degrees and put a woolly sweater/jumper on if you're cold.
Spread the word!
There is also a big demo organised by the campaign against climate change during the day. MIke, Melissa and I are planning to be there so give us a shout if you want people to march with. We will probably be with the Reclaiming contingent. People might like to have a look at this website too, if they haven't already.

I have no idea what this event is like as I haven't been before but it could be fun. I have emailed to check whether it is child-friendly as there is no comment on this on their site.

The Pink therapy newsletter has brought this website to my attention. I haven't really explored it yet but thought some of you may also be interested in having a look. I think they are also looking for writing contributions from UK based therapists.

Dear friends, Avalon witchcamp will be held from 31st of July - 7th of August 2006.
If you have thought about coming in the past, please consider attending. There are still concessions available as well, at a £100 discount each, thanks to the generous donations we received last year through the auction and raffle for the "send a witch to camp" fund. Feel free to email us (avaloncamp@gmail.com) about this by the 31st of March. No deposit needs to be sent with an application for a concession.
BLODEUWEDD- This year we will be working with Blodeuwedd, the maiden Goddess, magically created from the wild flowers of the forest, oak, meadowsweet and broom. A STORY FROM THE FOURTH BRANCH OF THE MABINOGIAN.
By booking early and paying in full by the 31st of March, you will save £50 on a dorm and camping place. Please note that you could send postdated cheques for the amount required or use Paypal. Please contact us for further information about these modes of payment at avaloncamp@gmail.com Thank you
If you would like more information about Reclaiming in general, you can find some at www.reclaiming.org
This an event for the community organised by community members and it is a not-for-profit event. Please support our camp! The paths this year are going to be amazing (ok, they usually are but, really, there are some great ideas out there). Details will soon be posted on our website: www.avaloncamp.org.uk
